Child Care Background Check

Once you become a parent, you become very aware of the dangers that can occur if your child is left in the wrong hands or the hands of someone that can pose a grave threat against them. I’m sure, if you are a parent or caregiver, that you’ve felt uneasy feelings when leaving your child with those that you didn’t know very well.

We’ve all been there and understand that when there’s a need, many times we will leave them without doing our due diligence. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There is a simple way that you can help avoid needless heartache for you and your family.

Today, with the internet such a large part of most people’s lives, performing a child care background check helps you find possible dangers before they can even come near your child. They will not only verify education, bankruptcy’s and other general information, but they will also flag criminal convictions, DUIs, history of mental illness, sex offender status and any other factors that can be a threat to you and your family.

What is really unfortunate is that even when there is so much available information on the internet, some states only take a minimal amount of background information from a potential childcare provider. Because of that, the utmost care and concern has to be taken by parents and caregivers of children when it involves daycare, nannies, babysitters and child care background checks. You cannot think that just because you are using an agency that they are going to do the appropriate child care background checks. It’s been proven over and over again that many of them do a minimal check, if they do anything at all.

A good child care background check will cover many areas. An amazing amount of very vital information is available to you when you perform one of these background checks. And as you can see, nothing is in place at this point in time to ensure that a childchare provider is legitimate and not a pedophile or sex offender. The best surety that you have as a parent is to make sure that you do your due diligence in keeping your kids safe. You are their only hope to keeping them safe in the hands of childcare provider.

Every parent should check and see if their state does a child care background check at all. The last session of Children and Family services was very vigorously working with the Attorney General’s office to include foster care on a bill the included a wide range of childcare background checks, but they did not discuss day care providers. "It would require a law change to do that and I think if somebody brings forth legislation to do so, the check could become mandatory," said Mulhauser. This wasn’t very good news for parents who have great concern about their kids which is why we are so adamant about making sure that you know who is watching your children, even if it’s just for one afternoon at the park.
